Walking in the Northern Lakes

A stay in the Lake District will offer you a relaxing and peaceful taste of the best of England's beautiful mountain scenery.

All types of walking can be enjoyed by both experienced and novice walkers, from high mountain ridges to lakeshore strolls. All are easily accessed from our base, just 2 miles from Loweswater, one of the 3 Buttermere Valley inspiring Lakes.

Clothing

Summer walking in the Lakes can be enjoyed by wearing lightweight clothing such as shorts and tops, and a sturdy pair of walking shoes or boots. But always remember, even on the warmest summer day, the weather in the hills can change suddenly and dramatically, so we recommend the following should always be carried.

  • Waterproof jacket and overtrousers
  • Warm top (fleece)
  • Hat and gloves
  • Daysack
  • Walking Boots or Shoes
  • Packed lunch and drinks
